Caring for and Maintaining Your Microsorum

Microsorum, often referred to as the Kangaroo Paw Fern, is native to both Australia and New Zealand. This fern is easy to care for and grow and does well in both home and office environments. Microsorum is hardy and adaptable to a range of environmental conditions.

Sunlight: Although Microsorum will tolerate lower light conditions, they thrive in bright indirect sunlight.

Water: Microsorum prefers to live in moist, but not soggy, soil. It also prefers water free of chemicals so it is best to water your Microsorum with distilled water or rainwater. In addition, water your Microsorum with water at room temperature.

Humidity: Microsorum is adaptable to a range of humidity conditions, but it prefers medium to high humidity conditions. Keeping the ambient environment around 50-55% humidity is a good goal to aim for to ensure the health of your fern.

Temperature: Microsorum prefers temperatures ranging from 70-75 degrees F (21 to 24 degrees C). Keep this fern away from drafty areas in your house--including air-conditioning and heating vents.

Soil: Microsorum enjoy soil that is well-draining and full of organic matter. We recommend Fertilome and Fox Farms potting soil mixes.
