Caring for and Maintaining Your Sansevieria

Sansevieria is slow-growing plant native to Africa, Madagascar, and Southern Asia.

Sunlight: Sansevieria prefers bright light for optimal growth, but will also do well in lower light conditions, which makes them a popular houseplant for many enthusiasts.

Water: Sansevieria prefers to completely dry out between waterings. Even in environments characterized by bright light, these plants should not be watered more frequently than every 10 days during the spring and summer—and even less so during winter months.

Humidity: Sansevieria appreciates a little humidity, but unlike other tropical/subtropical houseplants Sansevieria does well in dry air, which makes it a good plant to have in your home here in Colorado.

Temperature: Like most houseplants, Sansevieria prefers temperatures ranging from 65-85 degrees F (18-30 degrees C), and do not like temperatures below 60 degrees F (15 degrees C).

Soil: Sansevieria likes well-draining soils. We recommend Fertilome or Fox Farm potting mixes.
