Broadleaf Evergreen Shrubs
When most people think of “evergreen” shrubs we reflexively think of conifers or needled shrubs like pines and spruce. Interestingly, there is another class of evergreen shrubs, albeit much smaller, that hold leaves year-round. These kinds of shrubs are called broadleaf evergreens. If you are interested in adding some color to your yard year-round but don’t want to go with a needled shrub, these shrubs may be just what you are looking for! They come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and bloom colors, and some are drought tolerant or shade tolerant, and in some cases, both.
