Coniferous Evergreen Shrubs
Evergreen shrubs come in two varieties, those that are coniferous or needled and those that are broadleaf and fall more in line of what we think of when we think about the typical shrub. Brady’s West carries both kinds of evergreen shrubs. Below we describe coniferous evergreens and elsewhere we describe broadleaf evergreens. In a way, coniferous evergreen shrubs are minature versions of coniferous trees—their foliage looks a lot like what you see when you look at the big trees. Although it is true that some of these shrubs can get quite tall, for example, the Mops Mugo, which can grow to be over 15’ high and almost as wide, most needled evergreen shrubs are more in the 3-4’ tall range with similar widths. As the name implies, all of these shrubs provide year-round color, which varies from deep forest greens to vibrant blues. If you would like to add some year-round color to your yard, and you like needled plants, these shrubs are perfect for you.
