High Elevation Shrubs
In and around Chaffee County, most of us live somewhere betweeen 7000 and 8000’ feet above sea level. To most people living elsewhere in the US, that’s high, but for those of us who live here, we usually consider elevations above this range as being high elevation! When it comes to the world of trees and shrubs, we at Brady’s West think similarly—we consider anything at or above 8500’ as being high elevation, and we carry a incredible selection of shrubs that will thrive at this altitude or above. These are some tough, hardy shrubs, and include those with edible berries, and good deer resistance and drought tolerance. Some have magnificent spring blooms, others are evergreen, and still others are shade tolerant. Just because you live high in the Rockies doesn’t mean that you can’t fill your yard with some unique, beautiful, and viable shrubs!
