Shade Tolerant Shrubs
Most of the trees and shrubs that we offer at Brady’s West require full sun or at least 6 hours of sunshine each day—these shrubs love the long hot days that characterize our summers here in the high country. But there is some good news, especially for those of you who have some shaded areas in your yard—we carry plenty of shrubs that require only partial sun to remain healthy and beautiful. Shade-tolerant shrubs require about 4 hours of sun each day, preferably in the morning or very early afternoon when the sun’s rays are less intense than they are later in the day. Shade-tolerant shrubs span a wide size range (from less than a foot to over 10 feet, with similar spans in width) and grow at a many different elevation levels. Some shade-tolerant shrubs are also deer resistant or drought tolerant. If you have a shady spot or two in your yard that you want to fill, come in and see our selection of shade-tolerant shrubs!
